Our Courses

Our certificate programs include four core courses and four electives. The core courses establish a foundation in biblical interpretation and key theological truths, while the electives focus on practical ministry skills and real-world application.

Core Courses

  • A comprehensive survey of the Old Testament, including the Law, Prophets, and Writings. Students will study Old Testament literature using historical background, literary analysis, and theological construction. The course explores how the whole Old Testament tells a unified story of God’s redemption, pointing ultimately to Jesus. Topics include covenant, kingdom, prophecy, and New Testament fulfillment.

  • A comprehensive survey of the New Testament, including the Gospels/Acts, the Epistles, and Revelation. Students will study New Testament literature using historical background, literary analysis, and theological construction. The course explores how the New Testament records the fulfillment of God’s redemptive purpose in Christ. Topics include union with Christ, trinitarianism, and the New Testament use of the Old Testament.

  • An introduction to principles for interpreting the Bible, or “hermeneutics.” Students will develop the skills necessary to properly read, interpret, and apply Scripture. Topics include methodical Bible study and common errors in interpretation.

  • An introductory survey of the central teachings of the Christian faith from Scripture and church tradition. Students will study foundational doctrines including the doctrines of Scripture, the Trinity, sin, salvation, the church, and last things. The course explores how these doctrines developed historically, their biblical roots, and their practical implications for worship, mission, and Christian living.
